Tedi Tafel

Tedi Tafel is a Montreal-based choreographer currently working in the fields of performance, installation and video. The overall arc of her career describes a movement away from ‘spectacle’ and closer to the notion of public event inventing new forms that narrow the divisions between art and life, between performer and audience. Her works are site-specific articulations of our intimate engagement with both natural and urban spaces; expressions of the porous and reciprocal connection that exists between the processes of inner life and the movements, events and structures found in our immediate environments. Tedi has been presented in festivals across Canada and in New York, Iceland, England, Wales and Germany. Her most recent work is Calendar, a year-long performance series for urban spaces based on her experience of living alone in the Boreal forest.
