Catherine Major

Catherine Major

Catherine Major is among the strong talents of Quebec song and she arouses a deep interest abroad.

Her world is singular: she delivers, without restraint, colorful and eclectic songs tinted with humanity. Some are explosive and frantic, others are deeply intimate. She lives her songs in symbiosis with her instrument, the piano.

In 2002, Catherine wins the award for singer-songwriter at the Festival en chanson de Petite-Vallée, which gives her a strong incentive to begin the composition of her first album, Par-dessus bord, released in 2004 and winner of several awards. Her second album, Rose sang, produced by the talented Alex McMahon, is released in 2008 and praised by the critics as much as the public. At the end of an ambitious creation laboratory, Catherine unveils her third album in 2011, Le désert des solitudes. The singer-songrwriter presents with it 12 poetic pop songs composed and written with great attention to detail. She sings her words but also lyrics by Moran, Jacinthe Dompierre and Christian Mistral.
